Care Bears are a collection of plush bears from the United States. They first appeared on greeting cards by American Greetings in 1981, drawn by artist Elena Kucharik, and they became a hit with kids and grown-ups alike.

Before the smartphone era, Americans loved sending each other greeting cards for all kinds of occasions. These adorable little bears became a symbol of caring and appeared on many card designs, until they grew into animated shows and all sorts of products that fans still collect today.

In 1983, Care Bears were made into soft, huggable plush bears for the first time, with lots of characters to choose from.
